San Gusme’s best restaurant – Sira e Remino

meatsThe Dude of Food recently visited the Tuscan region of Italy. Luckily, my aunt and uncle were in the area and invited me stay at their rented villa for a night which happens to be a short walk from the cool old Italian village called San Gusme. In this village you will find one of the world’s finest culinary dreams come true. A place called Sira e Remino.

The restaurant’s sign which says Sira e Remino un cult, is exactly the kind of cult I need to join. Their place is located within the small old village walls and is awesome. The greeting and hospitality were warm and genuine. Our party of 7 were shown to the ‘Frank Sinatra room’ in the back away from the rowdy local soccer fan filled bar. fam t

anti meatsWe began this heavenly experience with lots of wine followed by salads, anti pasta, then more wine followed by incredible sizzling meat trays. There wasn’t a thing that wasn’t perfect about this entire place, staff and meal. The prices were generous considering the quality and portions.

Thank you Sira e Remino. Now I’m thinking I should get a job here just to be close to your quality food.

Habana Cafe, ROME

anti
One of the things that happens to the Dude of Food when he walks all over Rome is he begins to work up an appetite.

On my way to the Patheon I stopped at the Habana Cafe and had an awesome and affordable lunch.

Located on Via del Pastini 120, around the corner from the Patheon, you can get a great lunch, served by a cool staff for less that $15 euros. I sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance as I ate.

The Dude of Food tries to infuse tequila

After a visit to the Border Grill in Santa Monica on Easter sunday where I was introduced to this cool new flavor, the Dude of Food decided to try to recreate this awesome taste. Famous chef and restaurant owner, Susan Feniger, knows food and her staff impresses. The bartender on sunday made us try this tequila infused with cucumber and jalapeno peppers and it was delightful.

Today I went to the store and bought some agave tequila, cucumbers and a pepper and put it all together. In a few days I look forward to a cool refreshing taste.

The Dude of Food likes Loveless Cafe Plain Ol’ Hot Sauce.

Off of Highway 100 in Nashville is a place called the Loveless Cafe. You may not be close enough to walk in but you can go to their web page and check out the stuff they make.

The Plain Ol’ Hot Sauce is one of the secret ingredients the Dude of Food adds to his homemade micheleada recipe. It adds the perfect amount of spice. Truth be told, the Dude of Food also likes Red Rooster from Louisiana hot sauce. They both go great in my micheladas and on my grits, greens, smothered chicken, gravy, stuffing  and waffles.

The Dude of Food recommends Morandell Imports.

Quality knows no boundries. Morandell Imports has the expertise and experience to share these product options with you.

If you are having a party, opening an eatery or just want options for stock, then go to this web page and see their line of  beverages available or ask me, the Dude of Food, how you can order any of the fine products that the good folks at Morandell Imports can provide.

Prost.

The Dude of Food knows business is best done over meal.

The Dude of Food likes to put his money where his mouth is, so to speak. No, I don’t eat money but I like to make money while eating.

And when the Dude of Food says he likes a  ‘meal deals’, don’t think he is looking for a local burger special.

According to Lakshmi Balachandra, the asst. professor of entrepreneurship at Babson College, ‘The consumption of glucose enhances complex brain activities, bolstering self-control and regulating prejudices and aggressive behaviors.’

And here I thought eating just made me happy.

So if you are getting a chance to make a deal, debate a contract or bid on a job, do it over a decent meal. The Dude of Food can always recommend a good restaurant and be a 3rd party witness, if needed.

The Dude of Food presents- Alfredo

alfredo p3

So when I craved pasta with alfredo sauce I just took a half pound of bacon and pan fried it. After draining the pan I added some onions and finely chopped garlic. Fresh broccoli was added and then the frozen peas. Later I added a jar of alfredo and a small container of another brand of alfredo sauce and some milk. Add a dash of salt, some pepper, some basil or mint or whatever you like and bring to a simmer.

Add penne noodles and enjoy.

Top with cheese as preferred.

The Dude of Food loves Barcelona’s Damm Estrella beer

Barcelona is a fun place.

Good food, sangria, the sea, fun people and beer!

The folks at Damm Estrella beer are doing things right.

The Dude of Food likes the Adria’s recipes on the 6 pack holders.

Thank you.

Vegetable pasta. Spaghetti squash. Miss Paris!

img71o

From what the Dude of Food understands, you can purchase a thing that you stick vegetables in and when you turn the handle it magically turns the veggies into, voila!, spaghetti! This is a kitchen item that I need to add to my kitchen toolbox.

Right now the Dude of Food is sitting down with coffee at home, pretending to be served by Miss Paris in my amber room overlooking the river. I ask her to dip her finger in my coffee to sweeten it just right and sip my delicious cup of brew while relaxing in bed watching the boats on the river. I’m imagining a zucchini pasta with assorted mushrooms smothered in a cheezey white wine glaze served with a side of warmed buttery green beans and 3 poached eggs on sourdough toast is about to arrive next pushed in on a cart by 2 of Germany’s Next Top Models. A breakfast of champions in bed is a great way for the Dude of Food to greet the day.

See what happens to you if you purchase one of these Paderno Spiralizer from Williams-Sonoma.

Bon Appetite.
