Habana Cafe, ROME

anti
One of the things that happens to the Dude of Food when he walks all over Rome is he begins to work up an appetite.

On my way to the Patheon I stopped at the Habana Cafe and had an awesome and affordable lunch.

Located on Via del Pastini 120, around the corner from the Patheon, you can get a great lunch, served by a cool staff for less that $15 euros. I sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance as I ate.

Aldo Restaurante – Vatican City, Italia

alodThe first place to eat the Dude of Food came across after exiting the Vatican City museum is this sidewalk cafe called ALDO. After much walking, I was ready to sit down and have some nutritious authentic Italian lunch and the Aldo Restaurant provided it for me. The thoughtful staff, cool service and really good food left me feeling blessed and content and the meal was very reasonably priced.        “I would eat here all the time, if I was the Pope” exclaimed the Dude of Food.

Candy!

Whitman’s  vs.  Russell Stover  chocolate candy showdown

candy

Today I had the awesome task of tasting a bunch of chocolates and then telling the world my opinion. Well let me get down to business.

I had a box of Whitman’s assorted chocolates containing 7 candies, a box of Whitman’s Reserve that had 2 candies in it and a box of Russell

Stover chocolates containing 4 candies.

After tasting each I came to the conclusion that I like the Russell Stover chocolates a bit more. It’s hard to say chocolate is better than chocolate

but being side by side made it easier to pick a favorite. My taste buds told me that I favor the Russell Stover candies a little more than I liked the

Whitman’s candy.

Unfortunately See’s candies were not sold at Rite Aid and were not able to participate in this survey.

The city has flavored many musicians, jazz and otherwise.

Another gift of New Orleans is the Po’ Boy sandwich. (www.poboyfest.com/history)

Pictured here is my tribute to the Catfish Po’ Boy with pepper jack cheese.

World’s best fried egg by Chef Alex

>border grill's own chef alex creates a dude food favorite   All I know is that this thing is amazing.

If you like eggs, then you’ll love this.

Chef Alex, from Border Grill Santa Monica, creates a daily special that he tweets and this happened to be one that the Dude of Food will never forget. This egg dish has been raved about to all my friends in the neighborhood. The shell is pancake batter.

Champion Breakfast Sandwich

good startRoast Beef with Tomato, Egg and Cheese

Toast some bread in the toaster. While it’s toasting heat up a pan for some sliced roast beef. When the toast pops, spread mayo on the bread and add some sliced cheese on one side and some sliced tomato on the other. When the pan gets warmed up, put some sliced roast beef in it and heat it for a minute then flip it and heat the other side for a minute. When the roast beef is warmed up stack it on top of the cheese that’s on the bread. Then while the pan is still hot cook a scrambled egg in it and put the egg on the sandwich too. It is delicious, easy to make and gives you a great start to the day.
