Can we feed the starving in Africa and elsewhere? One kitchen, one love.

UN rep, Kanayo Nwanze, and president of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) seems to think it’s possible.

The thing that always bothers me is when we see on TV loads of food arriving by boat on a dock somewhere to feed folks and then the news cuts to shots of all kinds of starving people. My question is, why can’t the camera folks and talking heads on camera take the food they are filming at and give it to the starving people they are filming?

The Dude of Food thinks it’s time to stop sensationalistic reporting and start farming and sharing like good humans, not capitalistic robots.

The Dude of Food likes Bogle 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon

wine 2

When you are looking for a full bodied Cabernet that is not short on flavor and you’re not sure what to do because you don’t want to over spend, look for this bottle of wine. Bogle 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is a really good choice around $12. It may not be an expensive bottle but when folks taste it they won’t think you’re a cheapo, instead they should realize a smart deal and learn.

The Dude of Food presents pasta Alfredo

alfredo p3

So when I craved pasta with Alfredo sauce I just took a half pound of bacon, trimmed the fat and pan fried it. After draining the pan I added some onions and finely chopped garlic. Thawed frozen peas were added and then fresh broccoli . Later, cheating, I added a jar of Alfredo sauce and a small container of another brand of Alfredo sauce with some milk. I added a dash of salt, some black pepper. You can add basil or mint or whatever flavor you like and bring to a slow simmer.

Add Penne pasta and enjoy.

Top with cheese as preferred.

Barcelona is a fun place.

The Dude of Food likes Leberkasse und kaffe

A good way to start a leisurely Saturday is with a Leberkasse from the downtown LA Grand Central food court.

They need to do something about the parking though. The street is $4.00 an hour and the lot across the street is $5.00 flat. Can’t imagine what it’s like on weekday but it must be madness. Probably not best suited for folks who are on a budget or quick lunch break unless you can walk from your office.

The Dude of Food likes IN-N-OUT Burgers

inout u

The Dude of Food  is a big fan of In-n-Out burger. Ever wonder why they are so good? Is the quality of the meat? Is it the consistency in quality? Is the care they take in customer service? Is it the fresh iced tea and clean bathrooms?

Whatever it is, these employees learn all about it at the IN-N-OUT University in Baldwin Park.

Around the corner is a replica of one of the originals, seen below. Instead of millions served they advertise ‘NO DELAY’. My how times have changed.

As of Dec 18, 2024 there were 415 In-n-Out locations in the US.

Keep up the respectable work In-n-Out crew.

It just so happens that they make a good one here.  Pricey but good.

Good Los Angeles Food Trailer

The Dude of Food believes if you live in Los Angeles and are looking for a good food truck to cater your party then you may want to call this phone number. I believe he said his name is Noel and he said this number rings to his house. Speak slowly as his English is not perfect. I tried the tacos and menudo and was pleasantly surprised with both. The quality is good and the prices are reasonable. Win/Win situation here.

Add a mariachi band, a michelada bar and a pinata, and you’ll have a great time on your hands.

Gracias amigo.
